William T. Corbett, Sr.
July 14, 1942 – March 23, 2020
Bertie County – William Taylor Corbett, Sr., passed away peacefully on March 23, 2020, at the age of 77.
Mr. Corbett was born and raised in Bertie County and was a 1960 graduate of Colerain High School where he excelled in sports and extracurricular activities. Upon graduation he attended Frederick Military Academy, Chowan College and graduated from Atlantic Christian College (now Barton College) with a degree in Health and Physical Education.
Bill achieved his dream of teaching and coaching when he started working for the Currituck County School System where he worked for 33 years. During that time, he taught health and physical education and coached football, track and field and tennis.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, March 26, 2020 at Riverside Baptist Church Cemetery. Dr. Jay Brabban, Dr. Gene Martin and Pastor Randy Hughes will officiate.
He is survived by his wife, Lisa, and their three children: Hallie, Wyatt and Lane all of Merry Hill, North Carolina and his sister, Beth, of Colerain, North Carolina. He is also survived by his son, William T. Corbett, Jr. and his wife, Michelle, and their three children: Dara, Wilson (Wil), and Zeb, of Moresville, North Carolina.
Mr. Corbett’s body will be lying in repose Thursday, March 26, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Riverside Baptist Church in Merry Hill.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully asks that donations and contributions be made to Kindred Community Home Care and Hospice of Williamston, North Carolina, at 200 Green Street, Suite 203 Williamston, North Carolina 27892.
