Why are you running for Office?
I think I can make a positive difference in our county government.
My years of experience in real estate appraisal will be an advantage over other candidates because about 90% of the issues that come before the Board are real estate related.
Five Issues Facing Currituck
- Logical and orderly development patterns must be maintained to effectively manage growth. Employ the newly developed Land Use Plan (LUP).
- Consistency in the decision making by the Board is paramount to the success of our county
- Fairness to all applicants throughout all processes can be improved. All applicants should be equally important. Enforce the current rules we have already enacted.
- Conservation and preservation of our natural resources and heritage must be considered. There must be an equilibrium between conservation and development. School funding and new school building costs (along with existing school building maintenance and repair costs) must be closely monitored because of the current and projected growth patterns.
- Protection of property rights of all landowners, developers and homeowners – each group has these rights and their rights must be respected. Diversification of our tax base (not just residential tax income but income from new business) must be improved.
Other Comments
There are many issues facing our county now and there will be more in the future.
Choose your Commissioners wisely; we all can’t afford “unintended consequences” because of bad decision making.
