Incumbents retain all four local seats
The following unofficial ballot counts are as appear on the NC State Board of Elections website as submitted by the Currituck County Board of Elections. All ballot counts / vote totals are unofficial until the official state wide county canvass on Friday, March 13, 2020 at 11:00 am.
At Large – Board of Commissioners : Republican

Incumbent At Large Commissioner Mary ‘Kitty’ Etheridge, of Shawboro, retained her seat on the Currituck County Board of Commissioner by a margin of 90 votes over Fred Whiteman, of Moyock, in a 3 way race, with challengers Whiteman, of Moyock, and Daryl Lee Hood of Grandy.
District 1 – Board of Commissioners – Republican
Incumbent District 1 commissioner Bob White of Corolla, ran unopposed in the March 3, 2020 primary. Unopposed primary candidates’ names do not appear on the ballot. Since a Democratic challenger has not filed to run for this seat in the Primary or General Election, White may run unopposed in the November 3rd General election – pending opposition from a successful write-in candidate (see explanation below)
District 2 – Board of Commissioners – Republican

Incumbent District 2 Commissioner Selina Jarvis, of Harbinger, won the race for her seat on the Currituck County Board of Commissioners by a 9% margin – 338 votes over challenger Steve Craddock of Grandy.
Since a Democratic challenger has not filed to run for this seat in the Primary or General Election, Jarvis may run unopposed in the November 3rd General election – pending opposition from a successful write-in candidate (see explanation below)
District 4 – Board of Commissioners – Republican

Incumbent District 3 Commissioner Paul Beaumont, of Shawboro, narrowly retained his seat on the Currituck County Board of Commissioners by a 1.46% margin – 55 votes over challenger Stuart Innes of Currituck.
Since a Democratic challenger has not filed to run for this seat in the Primary or General Election, Beaumont may run unopposed in the November 3rd General election – pending opposition from a successful write-in candidate (see explanation below)
Register of Deeds – Republican

Two term Incumbent Register of Deeds Denise Hall, of Moyock, defeated challenger Christy L. McCord by a 9.48% margin – 368 – the largest margin of victory in all county office races. Hall also garnered the largest vote tally – 2,125 votes.
Since a Democratic challenger has not filed to run for this seat in the Primary or General Election, Hall may run unopposed in the November 3rd General election – pending opposition from a successful write-in candidate (see explanation below)
Potential for vote total changes
Vote totals in each race may change slightly, when provisional ballots are added to the candidate tallies later in the week, prior to the Friday, March 13 county canvass – at which time the results will be official.
The District 4 and At Large races, with narrow victory margins of 55 votes (1.46%) and 90 votes (2.35%) respectively are the most precarious with regards to final results.
General Elections for County races
No Democrat challengers filed for the four local seats – At Large Commissioner, District 1 Commissioner, District 2 Commissioner, District 4 Commissioner and Register of Deeds. Therefore, the winners of the primary election are currently running in the General Election unopposed. There are two possibilities of challenge for currently unopposed primary winners.
Petition Candidates
Petition candidates for the General Elections are required to file signature petitions with the local Board of Elections office by noon, the day of the primary (March 3rd). NC General Statutes require a total of 4% of registered voters in the County sign the petition supporting the individuals candidacy. As of this writing, no one had made Petition Candidate filings. Candidates who appeared on the primary election ballot are not allowed to run as petition candidates in the General Election.
Write-in Candidates
NC General Statute § 163-123. (c)(3) requires that write-in candidates for county level seats submit a petition containing the signature of 100 voters registered in the county, 90 days prior to the General Election. The deadline date for submissions of write-in petitions in any of the county races would be August 5, 2020.
Candidates running a write-in campaign for non-partisan school board seats are not required to file a write-in petition. Candidates who appeared on the primary election ballot are not allowed to run as write-in candidates in the General Election.
NC State House District 6 – Republican

In the District 6 Republican primary, first term incumbent House member Bobby Hanig of Powells Point easily defeated challenger Rob Rollason, of Nag’s Head. Hanig bested Rollason in both Currituck voting and district wide voting.
NC State House District 6 includes the following counties: Currituck, Dare, Hyde and Pamlico. Incumbent Republican Hanig will face Democratic Challenger Tommy Fulcher of Southern Shores in the November 3, 2020 General Election.
